How it works

The first 7 days

We step in within days. Here is the shape of the first week. Exact timing depends on your organization and is agreed with your board before we start.

  1. First conversation

A call with your board chair or president. What happened, what is due, and what you need.

  2. Scope and agreement

A short written scope: interim or ongoing, which functions, how we report, and a start date.

  3. Access and money

We work with your officers to confirm account access, signers, payroll, and bills, so nothing is tied to one departed person.

  4. The calendar

We list every deadline in the next 90 days, from filings and grant reports to renewals and events, and give each one an owner.

  5. People

We meet your staff, if you have them, and key volunteers. Everyone knows who to go to.

  6. Members, donors, and partners

With your approval, we send calm, short messages so the people who rely on you know the work continues.

  7. First board report

Your Executive Director gives the board a plain written summary: what is secure, what is at risk, and the plan for the next 30 days.

Steps may overlap or shift order. Your board makes the decisions throughout.
